Beer Goggles

Beer Goggles

Wikipedia defines “Beer Goggles” as, A slang term for a phenomenon in which consumption of alcohol lowers sexual inhibitions to the point that very little or no discretion is used when approaching or choosing sexual partners.

The term is often humorously applied when an individual is observed making advances towards, later regretting sexual contact with, a partner that is deemed unattractive, unacceptably scandalous, or repulsive when the prospect of sex is considered while sober. The “beer goggles” are considered to have distorted the “wearer’s” vision, making unattractive people appear beautiful.

We’ve all had them to some degree, but Scott Urban over at Urban Spectacles has taken Beer Goggles one step further & created glasses that are actually made from two bottles of your favorite brew. I came across these specs on the MAKE Magazine site and since they gave me a good laugh I just HAD to share these links & images with you: MAKE Link

These guys make some really creative glasses from wood & all sorts of other materials, so if you want to check out their other creations stop by the Urban Spectacles website and have a look!

**UPDATE:
I got an email from Scott over at Urban Spectacles and for those who want a pair of your very own, here is what he had to say…

ron,
thanks for the comments and interest in my specs. i am thinking about 250 as it is a lot of work to shape glass (though compared to my wood and vinyl not as much work), and plus whatever lenses you would want in them, and i can get cheap lenses.
and i wouldnt recommend these as your everyday specs, too risky. but for that special occasion they are totally fun frames which are highly noticeable. as long as you know they are more on the line of novelty frames that are wearable.
thanks again for the interest.

So for those of you who want a pair of these beauties, now you know how much they’ll cost you.  Don’t forget to tell Scott you read about him on the OC Beer Society website!
