Beer Geek Night at NBBC

Beer Geek Night at NBBC

Beer Geek Night. Typically, when someone hears that phrase, the first thought that goes through someone’s mind is,  ‘What the heck… What the hell… or WTF is Beer Geek Night?’ On February 18th, 2010, the great staff at Newport Beach Brewing Co helped OCBS to answer that question for over 50 happy Orange County beer lovers by opening up their brewery to host our first BGN.

The concept of a BGN is real simple… Your admission is what you bring to share.
Those who attended the night’s festivities each brought a small contribution of craft beer to share. In exchange, each was given ten taster tickets and set free, glass in hand, to choose from the varied selection of beers from around the world:
*New Holland Mad Hatter IPA
*Arbor Brewing Sacred Cow IPA
*Dogfish Head Punkin’ Ale
*Stone Arrogant Bastard ’09

An extra special ‘Thank You’ has to go out to Society member (and newest NBBC brewer) Derek Bougie. In addition to going the extra mile to make the night shine extra bright, Derek also acquired three unique draft offerings especially for the evening’s event:
*Pizza Port San Clemente Faceplant Tripel
*Bootlegger’s Blackstrap Porter [on nitrogen]
*Tustin Brewing XPA

Even though we didn’t open any new bottles after 9, by the end, everyone’s tickets where gone, but the beer bottles still flowed… what where we supposed to do, pour it out? I don’t think so.  Such a good time was had by all so now there are plans in the works for another event at NBBC in the near future!
